Sat Nav is a two element system that has a display unit and a GPS data receiver. GPS navigational satellites send signals to the receiver and send that information to the display unit. The various satellites detect the signals sent about and the GPS unit is then able to pinpoint it's exact location on the planet. Many different features are incorporated into the unit including maps and showing where the car is on the map.
